One of my best friends, Melissa, got married yesterday. It was awesome.

A Sleepy, Sleepy Boy

Yesterday, on our way back from Emma's speech therapy, Jack fell asleep. I carried him inside and laid him on the couch in the movie room. When I realized I didn't want him sleeping much longer, I sat him up. He was still asleep. Emma comes running in, "Poor little sleepy guy, awwww." Poor little sleepy guy is right, both my kids are light sleepers. He must have really needed that nap.

The Terror Inflicted Upon Jack Due to the Hiccups

The other night Jack and I had just finished reading books when he started to hiccup. I have to add on a side note here that little kid hiccups are ADORABLE. Okay, so, back to my little story. So, I turn off the light and he cuddles up on me so we can rock for a while and every 5-20 seconds, he does a little hiccup. I'm thinking, there's no way this kid is going to happily go to bed with the hiccups. Then I realize that he's all relaxed and sleepy on me and I know that scaring someone is one of those "miracle" cures for the hiccups. SO... I jump and grab Jack and give out a quiet little yell and he sits bolt upright and gives out a small startled "ahh!"...with another hiccup. I felt terrible! Poor little guy was all comfy on his mommeee when she turns on him and makes him fear for his life. He just sat up on me looking around his dark room with wide eyes trying to figure out what on earth grabbed him because NO WAY is mommy that mean. I'm trying to talk happily to him, like, "ooooh, that was fun!!"
For the next five minutes he kept asking me about the "ghost" that ssared me. (No, I did not misspell that, it's how it sounds coming out of Jack's mouth). In my defense it is the ONE hiccup cure that's really impossible to try on yourself. But I guess I can cross it off my list, because that poor kid was really scared. FORTUNATELY, trusting little things that they are, he was asleep before I left the room.

Too Hysterical Not to Share

Hi Jolene -
Your latest post brought back memories of a hilarious story Sue told me about an escapade Heather (her daughter) had with an indelible marker. Heather had an appt. with the pediatrician for her kindergarten school physical so Sue had popped her in the bathtub and laid out clean clothes for her to wear. Heather came out looking clean and shiny so off to Dr. Schriever's they went. You know the drill - the nurse comes in and tells the kids to strip down to panties. Heather did, and Sue got one of those surprises all parents dread. There was Heather in all her glory ........ she had drawn generous amounts of curly hair in her armpits, given herself a thicket of pubic hair and to top it all off - a great big hard-on sprouting out from the pubic hair! It makes me cringe every time I think about it! Yep, I bet you're feeling much better about that innocent little coloring job Emma and Jack did! Dr. Schriever and his nurse got a big laugh out of the whole situation and told Sue they'd seen worse. Worse? How much worse could that have been?

This is from a great friend of my parents, the kind they've known since high school or Jr High, the kind that buy each other farm animals as wedding gifts. And you think I'm kidding.

Hope you enjoyed. It should surely make you feel better about your next trip to the pediatrician's, or at least check your child before marker before you leave the house...

Great Big Sigh of Exasperation When Really I Just Want to Scream, or Throw Something out/through the Window

Some days little sneaky, naughty kids conspiring together like this are funny. Today is not one of those days. But maybe it will be for you.

If you think all this jumping around in unpacked box barf is unusual, you would be wrong.

Jack's Bedtime

So, I told you that Jack sleeps with a particular toy every night. This is that particular toy. It's a VERY cheap pair of binoculars that came as part of an Arby's kid's meal.
Here he is posing with his treasure.

Now, he can't pick out books all by HIMSELF. No, he uses his "hand-friend" seen here yelling at the camera "CHEESE!!!"

btime2.JPG.jpg

Then his little hand friend goes from book to book saying, "nooooo, not that one! Noooooo, not that one! He He He He... OH! That one!" (me- thank goodness) "Nahhhhh, not that one either! HE He he he!"

It's FUN.
Or at least I keep telling myself I'll miss it when the hand friend is gone.
